Like Cedric Price's Fun Palace, JUS3I does not assume itself as a static building, but as an active, open, and evolutionary infrastructure: a system conceived for continuous transformation over time. Closer to an operating system than to a fixed form, it allows for successive reconfigurations and permanent programmatic adaptations.

Furthermore, it asserts itself as a platform for continuous experimentation, where research, industry, and companies coexist. With a modular and open structure, it does not define rigid uses, but conditions of possibility, welcoming different intensities of research and production, with changeable, extensible, and reprogrammable spaces.

In this sense, the project inverts the industrial matrix of the old refinery: a system of energy refining passes to a system of knowledge refining. The rigid infrastructure transforms into an adaptive cognitive infrastructure, where research, production, and the city coexist in permanent transformation.

Industrial memory is revisited, reinterpreting the logic of the place as a process applied to the production of knowledge and urban transformation.

More than an object, JUS3I is the starting point of the new Matosinhos campus: a structural and evolutionary piece that activates the territory and anticipates new relationships between technology, production, and society.
