Set on a sloping plot dotted with olive trees, the house is located in a rural context characterised by small-scale single-family dwellings, typically built with common materials. The proposal acknowledges this setting but offers a contemporary interpretation — reimagining vernacular elements with constructive clarity and formal precision.
The placement of the house follows the natural topography, avoiding major earthworks. A reinforced concrete structure ensures durability, while the single-pitch timber roof — built by local craftsmen — echoes regional construction techniques. A defined grid organises the floor plan efficiently, streamlining the construction process. The bedrooms are arranged enfilade, in a linear sequence. The social areas unfold across three façades, engaging with the olive grove, the patio, and the distant horizon.
The interior spaces are traversable and dual-aspect, ensuring cross ventilation and passive thermal comfort. The car is integrated at the entrance, marking a formal interruption that reinforces the house’s geometry.
More than just a functional response, this house is a conscious exercise in adapting to place — a balance between permanence and transformation.
