    Rua da Venezuela

    2023

The proposal for the building is based on a layout that respects the continuity of the existing urban fabric and establishes a direct relationship with the adjacent buildings. The ground floor is designed to be permeable, extending the pedestrian passage from the neighbouring building and promoting fluidity between public spaces. This openness enhances visual permeability, street-level ventilation, and the overall quality of the urban space, making it more accessible and inclusive.

The organisation of the dwellings follows a logic of accessibility and environmental comfort. Internal circulation areas are spacious and adapted for reduced mobility, resulting in more generous living spaces. The layout prioritises cross ventilation and natural light, ensuring healthy living conditions and thermal efficiency without relying on mechanical systems.

The internal configuration of the apartments promotes flexible use. Each unit offers typological variations, with differing layouts between lateral apartments. The central circulation area is conceived as a multipurpose space — suitable for use as an office, play area, or workspace — adaptable to the needs of each household. The proposal thus embraces housing as a transformable space, capable of accommodating diverse ways of living.
