Im Trichtisal
In the suburbs of Zurich, adjacent to the forest and on sloping terrain, we were commissioned to develop 160 cross-ventilated apartments. To preserve the existing vegetation as much as possible and ensure permeability between the buildings, the proposal is organised as a cluster of volumes delicately inserted into the topography. The ground floor is activated by dwellings in direct contact with the soil, integrated into a continuous garden that links the city to the park — a gesture reinforcing the idea of a boundless city, fostering coexistence with nature.
The construction is based on a laminated timber structure set atop a concrete base, which houses the underground car park. Each building comprises four storeys and a setback top floor, ensuring a scale appropriate to the site.
All façade materials are recycled, sourced from the demolition of pre-existing buildings on site. Furthermore, the supply chain was restricted to a maximum radius of 150 km, ensuring sustainability and environmental responsibility throughout the construction process.
