Exp Identity China
After a long period of centralized production of architectural works, often overlooked internationally for lacking originality and pluralism, the paradigm of Chinese architecture is shifting.
Through interviews, models, technical drawings, and other graphical content, this exhibition highlights that shift by showcasing the work of six of the most exciting studios: Atelier Deshaus, Atelier FCJZ, Jiakun Architects, RUF, TAO, and Vector Architects. We have redrawn the floor plans, elevations, and sections, retaining only the walls and contour lines. The photographs have been turned into collages, with architectural elements highlighted in red. These images are layered on the walls in a manner reminiscent of Berlin street posters.
Digital screens hang above the posters, displaying the real-life conditions of the architecture. Additionally, a red semicircular table and a large staircase have been newly added to the space, extending the architectural theme of the exhibition while providing seating for viewing videos and reading texts.
The final room has been transformed into a playroom, where visitors can touch and interact with 3D-printed models, making the exhibition more engaging.
